  LUMINOX
LUMINOX hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and came south along with her 4 puppies to find living homes. She was a loving, attentive mum and now she deserves to get that loving family she’s always dreamed of. She’s spayed, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We can definitely see the Husky in her but not so much the Lab but she does have the loving, soft nature of one. So basically the breeds are just our assumption and she probably has many more in her too. She’s a bit under weight so could still do with gaining a few pounds which she should now seeing as she’s no longer nursing her puppies. She’s a sweet girl who just wants snuggles, toys and food. She loves her people and will be their shadow and follow them room-to-room because she doesn’t want to lose sight of them. Belly rubs? Did someone say belly rubs? This girl absolutely loves them and when she has her fosters full attention, she’ll then flop onto the floor and roll over so she can get that full-on belly rub.   LUMINOX is crate trained and will sleep well in it at night but not such a fan of it in the daytime so she is kept in a secure room and will settle down f er right away. She does well on her walks but we do not recommend anytime soon that she be off leash until her new owner is well acquainted with her and she’s very trusting of them. She’s housetrained and will let you know when she has to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves her belly rubs and will lean into her foster to let her know she wants them and when she gets their full attention she’ll then flop on the floor for her to give them. She loves to be in the water and she’ll run into it at full tilt and then lay down in it especially after a nice long walk in the woods. She enjoys car rides but sometimes needs bit of a boost to get her in there. She has the funniest quirk of when she’s going somewhere she’ll flop on the ground and go limp. However, she’s fine to be picked up and her smaller size makes it easier to manoeuvre her. She’ll do this sometimes at night when it’s bedtime and time to get her into her crate. She does this as she’d much rather stay with her people and she envisions herself lying on the bed rather than in the crate. She’s well socialized with dogs of all sizes and a lot of different breeds and she also has 2 of them in her foster home. They walk and play well together and love to burn off energy by playing chase in the back yard. She does have a prey drive so we’re saying no cats or critters in her new home. She’s only met children aged 10 plus and did very well with them so we are recommending they should be over the age of 10yrs and be gentle and loving towards animals.  LUMINOX loves to play with toys especially the squeaky ones. She has to be monitored with them though as she’ll chew through them pretty quick to get at that squeaker. So we’re recommending the toughest toys for her like the Kong brand and Nyla bones to chew on. She’s very food motivated so it’s very easy to teach new tricks and commands with treats. She already knows sit, paw, down, come and stay to name a few. Although she already knows these commands we do strongly recommend that her new owner take her to obedience/training school and it’s also a great way for her owner to bond with her. She’s great at sniffing out kibble too and has raided her kibble bin a couple of times so food should be kept well out of her reach. She doesn’t show any signs of  resource guarding with people when it comes to food or toys and they can safely be taken from her. She does require a fenced in yard and one that is secure as she’ll go on a mission to find gaps in it and try to escape. She does have a prey drive so  absolutely no cats or small critters in the home for her. She does chase after bunnies and other critters and one time she did manage to catch a bunny and it unfortunately didn’t survive.  If LUMINOX sounds like she’d fit into your home then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
  CALCULUS
CALCULUS was found on a local property living under a shed with his mum, Teacher and siblings (Drama, Library & Gym.) They were trapped on the Labour Day weekend and just in time for back to school so this little family became “Teacher and her Subjects.” He’s now looking for his very own loving forever home. He’s neutered, had his two sets of vaccines including his rabies, Revolution, a microchip and been deemed a healthy boy by the vet. He’s a quiet, friendly boy who likes to get to know you first before he’ll come over for pets or to be picked up. He’s come along way since being in his foster home and isn’t the very shy boy who arrived a few weeks ago. He’s not what you’d call an adventurous boy as he would rather sit back and watch the other cats get up to mischief while he just sits back and watches what they get up into.  CALCULUS has used the litter box since day one in foster care as he’s a such a smart boy. He loves to eat kibble and wet food plus drink nice cold water. Temptation treats are his favourite and if he hears that container shaking then he comes running. Chasing crinkly toys around is one of his favourite pastimes and he’s just discovering what fun all the other kitty toys are that he has. He really enjoys hanging out in the cat tree and is often caught having his nap on it. He’s in a foster home with a puppy so he would suit a home with a dog as long as the dog is cat savvy and a slow, monitored introduction is made between them. He’s also fostered with several cats so would definitely suit being with another one in the home. He’s still with his mum, Teacher and his sister, Library, so he would definitely suit staying together with one of them as he loves to snuggle up with them. They’re both beautiful all black cats just like he is too. If he isn’t adopted with one of his family members then he should go to a home with another cat as if he’s not snuggling with his family then he’s snuggled up with another cat in the home. Children should be aged 10 plus just because he’s on the timid side and they should be caring, gentle and loving towards animals.  If you would like to meet CALCULUS then please submit an adoption application to do so.
  LIBRARY
LIBRARY was found on a local property living under a shed with her mum, Teacher and her siblings (Gym, DRAMA and Calculus) and she’s now looking for her forever home. She’s spayed, had her two sets of vaccines including a rabies shot, Revolution, a microchip and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She’s still apt to run away from anyone but her foster and has yet to let herself feel comfortable around strangers. She loves to be on the cat tree and is usually on there with either her brother, Calculus or her mum, Teacher.  LIBRARY has used the litter box since day one in foster care as she’s such a smart little girl. She loves to eat both kibble and wet food, have her water nice and cold plus she loves Temptations treats. She’s in a foster home with a puppy so she would suit a home with a dog as long as it’s cat savvy and as always we recommend a slow, monitored introduction be made between them. She has her siblings plus several other cats in her foster home so we feel she would best suit being with another cat. Children should be aged 10 plus due to her timidness and they should be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  If LIBRARY sounds like she would fit into your family then please put in an adoption application to meet her.
  LOVEY DOVEY
LOVEY DOVEY hails from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south with her two sisters, Honey Bunch and Sweetie Pie. They’re named the Valentine Trio and she’s now looking to find her forever home. She’s spayed, received her three sets of puppy vaccines as well as her Rabies shot, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We really don’t know the size she’ll grow to be as we have no information on either parent. The same can be said about the breeds we’ve stated as we just go by what she looks like. There is a picture of her with her 2 siblings and they look to be Lab mixes but that’s just a guess. She’s a gentle girl and is very relaxed and behaves very well when she’s been taken to any events. She’s still very much a puppy and loves her snuggles. She’s still teething so she has lots of chew toys including Nyla bones to keep her little teeth busy.  LOVEY DOVEY’s crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. House training is going well and she rarely has an accident in the home but she is taken outside frequently. She really enjoys going on walks and gets excited when she knows she’s going on one. She wears a harness when she goes out and like all puppies, she loves to run ahead of you. She has good manners but does tend to eat her food very quickly so a slow feeder is recommended for her. If there’s another dog in the home we would recommend that she eat her meals in her crate until she figures out  they’re not going to take her food away from her. She knows most basic commands and will take treats “gentle” and “sit” for her meals like a good girl.  LOVEY DOVEY’s ideal family should be an active one that loves the outdoors and to go on hikes and long walks on the trails. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive especially if it leads to an adventure for her. She’s well socialized with other dogs so she would suit being in a home with one. We do recommended that a slow monitored introduction be made between her and any dogs in the home and the dog kept leashed for the first few introductions. She was initially fostered with 2 cats and 2 rabbits and she was great with them and would even lay beside the cats in front of the fireplace. She can be an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and caring towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. LOVEY DOVEY, like all puppies, is cute, playful and fun but also requires a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their brain development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information.  If LOVEY DOVEY sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
  AZTEC
AZTEC was from the Northern community of Grassy Narrows and he came south to find his forever family. He’s received his two vaccines including a rabies shot, a microchip and his vet has deemed him a healthy boy. The size he’ll grow to be is just an educated guess as we have no info on either of his parents. He’s more than likely a mixed breed but what he could be mixed is just a guess based on his looks. He’s a big energetic boy who’s just starting to play with a an assortment of toys and figuring out what fun they are. He’s very good natured and enjoys being around people and he follows his foster around the house.  AZTEC is just starting to get used to his crate as we feel he was never crated before. He is house trained and will let you know when he has to go outside for a bathroom break. He’s just started to go on leash walks and he gets pretty excited when he knows he’s going outside for  one. He does wear a front facing harness as he’s a strong boy and his foster feels that works best for him. He has good manners and will “sit” for  his meals and knows “wait” plus “gentle” for his treats. He hasn’t lived with children so we are saying if there’s any in the home they should be age 10 years plus due to him being a big excitable boy and he could easily knock them down. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can run around and play safely.  AZTEC’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on big hikes and walks so he can get the exercise he needs to burn off his puppy energy. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He’ll do well in a home with another dog as he’s met several and played really well with them. He’s not met a cat but if there’s one in the home they should be dog savvy and we highly recommend that when they meet he’s kept on a leash for the first few introductions. He would do well as an only pet in the home provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time.  Young dogs are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to take him for obedience training to help him to become the best adult boy possible. If AZTEC sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him. We will also consider foster-to-adopt for him to the right home.
  BOURNVILLE
BOURNVILLE hails from a Southern community in Ontario and came into the rescue with her 3 siblings, Milky Bar, Galaxy and Dairy Milk. They came into Rescue on the Easter weekend so they received the litter name of the  “Chocolates’s” and this cute girl is now looking for her forever home. She’s had her 3 sets of puppy vaccines including rabies, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We do have a picture of her mum and she looks like a Border Collie mix but we have no info on dad. Seeing as she comes from a community with lots of stray dogs she no doubt has many different breeds in her and they could additionally include Shepherd, Black Lab and even Husky. We also have no idea on the size she’ll grow to be so the size we have in this post is just a guess. She really loves to socialize with people and run up to them with her tail just a wagging to greet them. With her happy personality and loving  BOURNVILLE is sweet, playful and full of curiosity. This lovely girl loves to spend time outside playing in her fenced-in yard. When her playtime is over she’s all about the cuddles and she’ll happily curl up in your lap for some quality nap time. With her happy personality and loving nature she’s ready to find her forever home where she can continue to thrive and grow. BOURNVILLE is crate trained and picked up on that very quickly as she’s a very smart girl. She’ll sleep quietly in it at night but in the day she does like to sleep on her dog bed. She’s doing really well with her house training and is just starting to let you know she needs to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves to go for walks and she’s now almost up to doing 30 minutes at a time. She has met several friendly dogs on her walks and she’s a bit reserved at first but soon relaxes and has been able to greet them nicely. Due to teething, she’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to satisfy that urge not to chew on anything that she shouldn’t. She really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. She’s starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as “sit” for her meals and treats and to take them “gentle.” BOURNVILLE’s ideal family would be a quiet one and one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take her on adventures with them. Ideally someone would be home with her for most of the day as she loves to be around her people. She really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in her crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. There’s not a dog or a cat in her foster home so if there’s either in her new home then they should be dog savvy and we always recommend that a slow, monitored introduction be made between them while the puppy is on a leash for initial meetings. She needs a fenced-in yard and children should be aged 10yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  BOURNVILLE was adopted but after 3 weeks she was returned to the rescue and we feel it was through no fault of her own. When meeting new people she needs her space. If you try to approach her with hands out she’ll back up and try to leave the area and/or hide behind her ‘safe person.’ The safest way to approach her is by following the ‘no touch, no talk and no eye contact’ rule to avoid triggering a flight or fight response. She has successfully met groups of people with this technique and when she was ready, she approached each person on her own and had a good sniff and then said ‘hello.’  She is wary of tall men and offers a small grumble initially to express her concern but with the same approach as already mentioned, she quickly relaxes.  BOURNVILLE, like all puppies is cute, playful and a fun puppy but she’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to commit to sign her up for puppy training/obedience classes so she can be the most well behaved puppy possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spay performed by the time she’s 6 months of age. It will either be at our vet’s office or be at the Barrie SPCA. You do have the option to use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. However her spay will still have to be performed in the above timeframe for the reimbursement and we’ll need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of her (preferably in a onsie or cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If BOURNVILLE sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information.
  OKAASAN
OKAASAN was surrendered to the rescue through no fault of her own and now finds herself looking for a new home. Her name is a Japanese one for mama and seeing as she’s being posted for adoption on Mother’s Day, it seems only fitting that she’d have a rescue name in honour of that. She’s spayed, had her first set of vaccines including a rabies shot, a microchip and she wears a flea and tick collar. She’s also been deemed a healthy girl by the vet. She’s a super smart girl who loves affection but can be a bit timid when she first meets new people. It doesn’t take her long to come around though and she soon shows her affectionate, snuggly side. She loves to play “fish” games on the iPad and also one where she chases squirrels around with her paw. Her fur is medium to long in length so she’ll need constant brushing/combing or grooming about every 6-8 weeks to prevent knotting of her fur.  OkAASAN will give playful “love bites” and sometimes they happen when she’s being all affectionate with you and she forgets herself and does that little playful bite. She’s also been known to give an odd paw swot here and there but there’s no malice behind it and she’s just showing off her playful nature. She’s a pretty active girl who will run around and play with all sorts of cat toys and then just take a nap and that will normally be in her cat tree or curled up with you on the couch,  OKAASAN uses the litter box and is very clean with it too. She loves to eat both kibble and wet food and she’s not fussy on what brand she eats either and the same can be said of the treats she eats too. She likes to sit in her cat tree and she’ll also sit at the window to watch the birds, squirrels and chipmunks playing outside. She was originally in a home with a dog but there wasn’t a whole lot of interaction between them so if there’s one in her new home then they should be cat savvy plus be quiet and gentle in nature. As always we do recommend a slow introduction with the resident dog as it’s kept leashed for the first few times they meet each other. She hasn’t shared a home with another cat so being the only cat in the home is probably best for her. The home that’s probably most suitable for her is one where she has someone home with her for most of day, especially if she’s going to be an only pet in the home. She has met a few children over the years but hasn’t lived with any so we’re advising if any in the home they should be aged 10yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  If you would like to meet OKAASAN then please submit an adoption application to do so.
  BONFIRE
BONFIRE hails from the Northern community of Keywaywin and came south with his 3 siblings, Cottage, Muskoka and Dock to find his forever home. He’s had his 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his Vet. We have no information on either parent so the breeds we have him listed as and the size he’ll grow to be is just an educated guess. Seeing as he comes from a community with lots of stray dogs, he no doubt has many different breeds in him that are not as notable as well. He’s the quietest one in the litter and he’s the first one to leave the puppies cuddled up in the dog bed and sleep beside it to have his own space. He does like to socialize with people and will excitedly run up to greet them with a wagging tail. With his outgoing personality and loving ways he’s ready to find his forever home where he can continue to thrive and grow.  BONFIRE is a happy, playful puppy who’s full of curiosity and loves to spend time outside playing in his fenced-in yard. He loves to play with all sorts of toys and he’s just discovered the ones that squeak. With his quiet personality and chill nature he’s ready to find his forever home where he can continue to thrive and grow. BONFIRE has just started his crate training and picking up on it very quickly as he’s a very smart boy. He’s only just started going out for his bathroom breaks and be’s just starting to understand that’s the place to do his business. He’s just started to go on walks but he’s already getting to know when it’s time to go out and gets excited about going out. Due to teething, he’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to satisfy that urge not to chew on anything that he shouldn’t. He really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. He’s starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as “sit” for his meals and take treats “gentle.” BONFIRE’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take him on adventures with them. He really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in his crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. There’s an older puppy in the home and he’ll seek him out to romp and play with. He has 2 cats in his foster home but as of right now they’re not really interacting but we do feel be would suit a home with one especially if the cat is dog savvy. We always recommend that a slow, monitored introduction be made between both a cat and a dog in the home while the puppy is kept on a leash. He needs a fenced-in yard so he can run around and play safely. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  BONFIRE, like all puppies is cute, playful and a fun puppy but be’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to commit to signing him up for puppy training/obedience classes so he can be the most well behaved puppy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neuter performed by the time he’s 6 months of age. It will either be at our vet’s office or be at the Barrie SPCA. She’s never met a cat so if there’s one in the home then they should be dog savvy and we always recommend that a slow, monitored introduction be made between them while the puppy is on a leash. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information.
  PAPAYA
PAPAYA hails from the Northern community of Kasabonica and came south with his 3 siblings, Apricot, Clementine and Tangerine to find his forever home. He’s had his 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his Vet. We have no information on either parent so the breeds we have him listed as and the size he’ll grow to be is just an educated guess. Seeing as he comes from a community with lots of stray dogs he no doubt has many different breeds in him that are not as notable as well. This “Orange” Litter is very chill and relaxed and his foster says they’re a very quiet litter as well. He really loves to socialize with people and will excitedly run up to them with his tail wagging to greet them. He loves to be picked up and snuggled into you. With his happy personality and loving nature he’s ready to find his forever home where he can continue to thrive and grow. PAPAYA is a quiet, playful puppy who’s full of curiosity and adventure. He happily plays with his siblings and is good at sharing toys with them. He’s just started to chase a ball around and loves the spikey type to chase around and chew on. This handsome boy loves to spend time outside playing in his fenced-in yard. When his playtime is over he’s all about the cuddles and he’ll happily curl up in your lap for some quality nap time. PAPAYA has just started with crate training and is picking up on that quickly as he’s a very smart boy. He’s only just started going out for his bathroom breaks and he’s just starting to realize that’s the place to go potty. Inside the home he goes on newspaper and he also has a blanket that he’ll go on as well. He’s just started to go on walks but he’s already getting to know when it’s time to go out and he gets excited about going on his walk. Due to teething, he’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy bones and toys to satisfy that urge to chew on these to keep him busy so he won’t chew on anything that he shouldn’t. He really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. He’s  starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as to “sit” for his meals and to take treats “gentle.” PAPAYA’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take him on adventures with them as well. He really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in his crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. He’s socialized with other dogs as there’s 2 older puppies in his foster home and he loves to be around them. He would suit a home with a dog but he can also be an only dog provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time. He does have a cat in the home but there’s no real interaction with them at this stage. However, if there’s one in the home we recommend the same as with a dog in the home and that is a slow, monitored introduction between them while the puppy is held on a leash. He needs a fenced-in yard so he can run around and play safely. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals. PAPAYA, like all puppies is cute, playful and fun but he’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to commit to signing him up for puppy training/obedience classes so he can be the best well behaved puppy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his adopter must be in agreement to have his neuter performed by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) It will either be at our vet’s office or at the Barrie SPCA. You do have the option to use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it at the SPCA. However, his neuter will still have to be performed in the above timeframe. For the reimbursement we will need a copy of the surgery procedure invoice and an updated photo of him (preferably in a cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If PAPAYA sounds like he’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information.

TANGERINE hails from the Northern community of Kasabonica and came south with her 3 siblings, Clementine, Papaya and Apricot to find her forever home. She’s had her 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her Vet. She is fostered as an only pet in the home but another dog in the home should be well socialized with other dogs. She also hadn’t met a cat but if there’s a cat in the home they should be dog savvy. Whether she’s meeting a dog or a cat in her new home we recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them while the puppy is held on a leash.
