IRELAND hails from the northern community of North Spirit Lake and came south to find her forever family. She’s had her first set of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We have no information on either parent so the breed she is and the size she’ll grow to be is just a guess. She’s very petite so we don’t see her being a big dog but then again, we could be totally wrong. This happy, friendly little girl is a perfect combination of snuggles and energy. She loves being around her people and being a lap dog.
IRELAND is crate trained and will sleep quietly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. House training is still a work in progress but she has very few accidents in the home and will always go to the bathroom outside when taken. She loves to go on walks and like all puppies, she excitedly runs ahead of you. She’s at a chewing stage right now as she’s teething so she has several chewy toys plus Nyla bones to keep her teeth busy. She has no food aggression at all and will sit for her meals and take treats “gentle.” She’s a very smart girl and picks up very quickly on commands and understands what’s expected of her.
IRELAND’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will also take her on adventures with them. She’s fostered with a cat and they get along very well together and therefore would suit being in a home with one. She can be with a dog but we do recommend a slow, monitored introduction while the resident dog is leashed. Children should be aged 6 and up and be loving, kind and gentle to animals. She does require a fenced-in yard to keep her safe and also so she can run around and burn off some of that puppy energy.
Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to take her for puppy obedience/training to help her become a well mannered and good girl. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age as per our adoption agreement. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for the surgery there. We do need the surgery to still be performed by 6 months of age and for the reimbursement, we need a copy of the invoice and a picture of her (preferably in a cone or onsie after the surgery) as we put the picture on our fb page along with others who were fixed that week.
If IRELAND sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
