  TOAST
TOAST arrived in rescue just in time for New Year’s celebrations from the Fort Hope Northern community. He previously had an owner which shows in his lovely calm personality. He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and been given a clean bill of health by his vet. We have no knowledge of his parents so his breeds are just a guess based on what we figure he looks like. He’s full grown so we know that’s the size he’ll be give or take a pound or two. He’s a relatively calm dog and is very sweet with people.  TOAST is house trained and crate trained. He sleeps well in his crate at night and will also take naps in there during the day. He walks well on his leash but would benefit from some training in that direction. He enjoys playing with his dog toys and also having a bone to gnaw on. He’s fostered in a home with 2 female dogs and they get along really well so would suit a home with another one. He has done well with all the dogs he’s met on his walks except that is, an unneutered male that he met. He became very vocal with him and wanted to be dominate but there were no issues seeing as both dogs were leashed. He’s not a fan of puppies and doesn’t appreciate their puppy antics around him.  TOAST would love to have an active family that likes to go on adventures, long walks and hikes in the woods. He can be stubborn as he knows what he wants and he is also a counter surfer. His foster is working on this with him and she said he’s getting better and she also makes sure she doesn’t leave any food laying around for him to get his paws on. He’s in a foster home with a very dog savvy 5yr old and he’s very gentle around her so would suit a home with children but they should be aged 6 and up. He does require a fenced yard so he can play outside and run around safely.  We strongly recommend that his new owner meet with a trainer to do some fine tuning with him and work on his leash skills. It will help to form a bond with him and his new owner plus turn him into an all round great dog.  If TOAST sounds like a dog that will fit into your family then please submit an adoption application to meet him.
  PANCAKE
PANCAKE hails from Sandy Lake and was part of our Breakfast Club who came south to find their forever families. She’s had her first 2 sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She was found all alone so we have no information on either  parent so the breed she is and the size she’ll grow to be is just a guess. She’s a perfect combination of snuggles and energy. She loves being around her people and playing with her many dog toys. PANCAKE is crate trained and will sleep quietly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. She’s really good at using the bathroom outside and has had very few accidents in the home. It’s still a work in progress though as she’s not at the stage to ask to go outside yet. She’s lives to go on walks and wears a harness when she goes on them. Like all puppies, she excitedly runs ahead of you.  She loves to chew so she has several chewy toys plus Nyla bones to keep her busy. She has no food aggression at all but does have a slow feeder to slow her down. She sits for her meals and will take treats “gentle.” She’s a very smart girl and picks up very quickly on commands. PANCAKE’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take her on an adventure or two. She’s fostered with other puppies and kittens and gets on well with them all. She does chase the kittens but it’s just to play with them and have a wrestle. She would definitely suit a home with a cat or another dog but would do equally as well in her home provided she wasn’t left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 6 and up and she does require a fenced-in yard. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her become a well mannered and good girl. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. It will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. We do need it to still be done by 6 months of age and we need a copy of the invoice and a picture of her (preferably in a cone or onsie) in order to do the reimbursement.  If PANCAKE sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
  HASH BROWN
HASH BROWN hails from Pikangikum and came south to find his forever family. He’s had his first 2 sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. He was found all alone so we have no information on either parent so the breeds he’s listed as and the size he’ll grow to be is just a guess. We figure he looks like a Dutch Shepherd as he has very unique brindle markings on his legs which are typical to the breed. If you’re looking for a typical energetic little puppy who a loves to be with his people and playing with the many dog toys in his foster home.  HASH BROWN is one lucky pup as he’s being fostered by our puppy trainer. He’s learning the basic commands plus a whole lot more and getting lots of socialization with all the other dogs in the home. In the words of his foster “He’s doing well and very smart. Lots of shepherd traits, playful, very confident at home and mostly confident outside the home.” He’s crate trained and will sleep soundly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. He’s really good at using the bathroom outside and has had very few accidents in the home but it’s still a work in progress as he’s not at the stage to ask to go outside yet. He’s just started to go on walks and like all puppies, he excitedly runs ahead of you. He often uses the bathroom on his walks too. He loves to chew and can become quite bitey so lots of chewy toys for this boy like Kongs and Nyla bones to keep him busy. HASH BROWN’s ideal family would definitely have Shepherd experience and be willing to continue his training to make him be the best all round boy he can be. His family would also be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and happily take him on an adventure or two, especially seeing as he travels so well in the vehicle. He’ll do well in a home with other dogs due to all the socializing he’s been doing with them. He’s never met a cat but if the cat is dog savvy and the introduction is done slowly and carefully monitored then he should do well with one. He’ll also do well as an only pet in the home provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 12 and up plus be very dog savvy. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe while he has a run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to be in agreement to take him for continued puppy/obedience training to help him continue to become the well mannered and good boy he’s headed to be. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs, which ever comes first. It will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of him (preferably in a cone) in order to do the reimbursement.  If HASH BROWN sounds like he’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.
  OBI
OBI hails from the northern community of Pikangikum and was part of our Heart Litter who came south to find their forever families. He’s had his first 2 sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. We have no information on either parent so the breed he is and the size he’ll grow to be is just a guess. This happy, energetic little guy is a perfect combination of snuggles and energy. He loves being around his people and playing with his many dog toys.  OBI is crate trained and will sleep quietly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. House training is still a work in progress but he is really good at using the bathroom outside and has very few accidents in the home. He loves to go on walks and like all puppies, he pulls on his leash and excitedly runs ahead of you. He’s at a chewing stage right now as he’s teething so he has several chewy toys plus Nyla bones to keep his teeth busy. He has no food aggression but does eat his food very quickly so a slow feeder would be a good investment for him. He knows most basic commands and will sit for his meals and take treats “gentle.” He’s a very smart boy and picks up very quickly on commands and seems to always know what’s expected of him.  OBI’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take him on adventures with them. He’s well socialized with dogs of all sizes so would suit a home with one. He hasn’t met a cat but if the cat is dog savvy and with a slow, monitored introduction then he should be able to live in a home with one. Children should be aged 6 plus and he does require a fenced-in yard to keep him safe.  Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to take him for puppy/obedience training to help him become a well mannered and good boy. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have his neuter performed by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (which ever comes first.) It will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there, his neuter will still have to be performed in the above timeframe for the reimbursement and we just need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of him (preferably in a cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were fixed that same week. If OBI sounds like he’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.
  LENNAN
LENNAN hails from the northern community of Pikangikum and was part of our Heart Litter who came south to find their forever families. He loves being around his people and playing with his many dog toys. LENNAN is crate trained and will sleep quietly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. He’s really good at using the bathroom outside and has very few accidents in the home but if he does go there are pee pads by the door that he’ll use. It’s still a work in progress though as he’s not at the stage to ask to go outside yet. He loves to go on walks and like all puppies, he excitedly runs ahead of you. He’s at a chewing stage right now as he’s teething so he has several chewy toys plus Nyla bones to keep him busy.   WAFFLE
WAFFLE hails from North Spirit Lake and is mum to the Breakfast Litter (Cereal, Granola, Porridge and Smoothie) who came south to find  their loving families. She’s spayed, vaccinated including her rabies shot, microchipped, had dewormer and also Revolution. She’s also been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She was just a baby having babies but she was a very caring mumma to her kittens and after doing her duty, it’s now her time to find that perfect home. She’s very loving and lives to sir beside her foster while she gets combed. Her fur wad pretty knitted when she first arrived but now it’s tangle free and silk soft. She doesn’t purr but makes a cute chirpy noise when she’s happy. She will sit on your lap but not for long as she always has one eye on what her kittens are doing so will jump off to check on them. Her foster thinks that the cat she truly is hasn’t come out yet as she spends all her time guarding her kittens. WAFFLE is litter box trained and has been since first coming into foster. She lives to curl up in her cat bed  and also sit in the hammock that’s in a large crate, which up to a couple of weeks ago she would sleep in at night with her kittens. WAFFLE’s fostered  with puppies and it did take her sometime to warm up to them as she was always defensive of her kittens if they came too close. Now the kittens are more independent she has relaxed a lot more around them and will allow them to be in her personal space. She’s yet to be caught cuddling next to a puppy but that may just be around the corner. Che will suit be in a home either way a dog especially a cat savvy one but we still recommend a slow, monitored introduction while the dog is kept leashed. She has another cat in her foster home and they do live in harmony but again, not snuggling up together yet. Children should be aged 6 plus and be loving, caring and considerate to animals. If WAFFLE sounds like the fit for your family then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
  IRELAND
IRELAND hails from the northern community of North Spirit Lake and came south to find her forever family. She’s had her first set of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We have no information on either parent so the breed she is and the size she’ll grow to be is just a guess. She’s very petite so we don’t see her being a big dog but then again, we could be totally wrong. This happy, friendly little girl is a perfect combination of snuggles and energy. She loves being around her people and being a lap dog.  IRELAND is crate trained and will sleep quietly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. House training is still a work in progress but she has very few accidents in the home and will always go to the bathroom outside when taken. She loves to go on walks and like all puppies, she excitedly runs ahead of you. She’s at a chewing stage right now as she’s teething so she has several chewy toys plus Nyla bones to keep her teeth busy. She has no food aggression at all and will sit for her meals and take treats “gentle.” She’s a very smart girl and picks up very quickly on commands and understands what’s expected of her. IRELAND’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will also take her on adventures with them. She’s fostered with a cat and they get along very well together and therefore would suit being in a home with one. She can be with a dog but we do recommend a slow, monitored introduction while the resident dog is leashed. Children should be aged 6 and up and be loving, kind and gentle to animals. She does require a fenced-in yard to keep her safe and also so she can run around and burn off some of that puppy energy.  Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to take her for puppy obedience/training to help her become a well mannered and good girl. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age as per our adoption agreement. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for the surgery there. We do need the surgery to still be performed by 6 months of age and for the reimbursement, we need a copy of the invoice and a picture of her (preferably in a cone or onsie after the surgery) as we put the picture on our fb page along with others who were fixed that week.  If IRELAND sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
