Highlighted Animals:

ZICO ZICO was surrendered to the rescue through no fault of his own and he’s now searching for his forever family. He’s neutered, vaccinated including his rabies shot, microchipped and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. Don’t let his small size fool you as he loves to be active and be out and about on walks in the neighbourhood and hikes on the trails. Although he’s an energetic little guy he also likes to snuggle up and be a lap pup but this will only happen if he’s been tired out from his long walks or he’s had a very active day.  ZICO is crate trained and sleeps soundly in it at night. He’s also housetrained and will run to the door when he needs to go outside for bathroom. He does really well on the long walks around the lake front and he can do an hour walk no problem. He wasn’t socialized at all but in a foster home with many dogs he’s had to adjust to them being around him. At first he would just bark at the other dogs but after a few days he settled down and was fine with the small dogs and puppies but would still bark at the bigger dog everytime he moved. He is fine with him now and he walks beside him everyday on his many walks with no problem at all. He will still bark when he meets dogs on his walks though so it is recommended that his adopter seek out a trainer to help him realize that the dogs mean him no harm and he doesn’t have to get over excited when he sees them. He also had never met a cat and again would just bark at them in his foster home. He’s so much better with the cats now and doesn’t bark at them at all. Overall he’s really so much better with all the animals in his foster home. If he does go to a home with other dogs or a cat in it, it’s important that his adopter understand there likely will be an adjustment period for him to get used to them and lots of patience will be required too. He was just at the groomers and he did really well getting his face and chest trimmed up but when it came to the rest of his body he didn’t seem to enjoy it as much so he ended up having a muzzle on so his groom could be finished off. We are definitely recommending that he be muzzled for his future grooming needs.  ZICO’s ideal home is one that is active as be needs his long walks to burn off his Yorkie energy. A quieter home is more suited to him too as if there’s too much going on then he could easily get over stimulated. He wants to be part of a family that will take him everywhere with them including family adventures as he’s just a young guy and there’s lots he wants to do and see still. He has lots of typical Yorkie behaviour so his new owner does need to be breed experienced. He’s a destructor of toys and only the toughest, hardiest ones survive his company such as Kong toys and very sturdy plastic ones including Nyla bones. Due to him not being in a home with children or ever having met any we are recommending they be 12 years of age and up. CAMEO CAMEO is from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south to find her forever family. She’s vaccinated including her rabies shot, spayed, microchipped, had Revolution (flea and tick) meds and been deemed a healthy girl by the vet. She’s a friendly girl but it took her a couple of weeks to come out of hiding and feel comfortable in her surroundings in her foster home. The home does have 2 puppies that chase her so her foster feels that’s partly the reason why. CAMEO is litter box trained and she bas been ever since she came into rescue. She loves to run around and play with cat toys and she likes the circular tower that has the balls to swat around. She loves to sit on top of the cat tree and watch the birds and squirrels frolicking around outside. She has 2 other cats in the home and although they all get along and will chase each other they haven’t gotten to the snuggle up stage yet. She will suit a home with a friendly cat but she would also be fine as an only one as long as she’s not left alone for long periods of time.  CAMEO hasn’t met children so we recommend they be aged 12 and up as we feel she would just run away from them. She loves to eat kibble that’s topped with some wet food and Temptations are her favourite treats. Her new owner would need to have patience with her as she adjusts to a new home environment and is comfortable enough not to go into hiding.  If you would like to meet CAMEO then please submit an adoption application to meet her.      Read more about CAMEO... SONOMA SONOMA hails from the northern community of  Sandy Lake and headed South to find his forever family. He’s neutered, vaccinated including his rabies shot, had Revolution, is microchipped and has been deemed a healthy boy by the vet. This lovely boy is a joy to have around and he enjoys being with the other cats in his foster home. He’s very gentle and loving but he will take a few days to warm up to his new people but once he does be’s just a big sweetheart. SONOMA is litter box trained and has been since he came into foster care. He’ll chase the toys around but tends to go after the bigger ones that belong to the  puppies. He has 3 puppies in his foster home and he hid from them at first but once he realized they meant him no harm then he would bravely come out of hiding and sit near them. He has a very submissive personality so he would suit a home with another cat as long as the cat has like qualities to his. He should do good with a dog in the home as long as the dog is cat savvy. We strongly recommend that the dog be introduced to him slowly and be leashed until they become well acquainted with one and other.
