MARIANAS hails from Fort Hope and came into rescue at just 3 days old along with her 5 siblings and her mum, Ocean. She’s spayed, microchipped and had her three sets of puppy vaccines including rabies. Two of her siblings are white so we think either dad was either a Great Pyrenees or maybe even a Lab. Her weight is just a guess based on her current size and the size her mum is (just under 50lbs.) This beautiful, smart, adventurous little girl is patiently waiting for the right loving home to find her. A fenced yard is a MUST fir her to keep her safe and prevent her from wandering off.

MARIANAS is an affectionate, snuggly, happy, gentle, calm girl who also has an adventurous spirit to her. If she was human she would be labelled as a “Tom Boy” as she’s also so fearless like when she climbs on top of the huge rock in the garden and acts like she’s “Queen of the hill!” She loves to hang out with people and will jump up on the couch with whoever’s on it for snuggles and kisses. She’s well socialized with dogs and her foster home has 3 of them and she loves to run around and play chase with them, especially if she knows they have a stick. She has a bff next door and he’s a big boy of about 80lbs and they play together just about everyday.

MARIANAS would definitely suit a home with another dog but they would need to be calm and respectful towards her and not mind her tagging along wherever they go. On the hand, she would do great as the only dog in the home provided her people are home with her for most of the day. Her ideal home is one with active people to take her on big walks, car rides and on the adventures she loves so much. She has met children and does well with them and she would related well to one’s that are calm, mindful and respectful towards her. Children should also be dog savvy and mindful in the house, responsible and caring plus willing to assist in training and supporting her in every way, they should also be aged 8 plus.

MARIANAS never ceases to amaze us with the things she’s accomplished. Nothing’s a challenge but rather just another step forward in her day, like when she runs up and down steps with no fear whatsoever. Foster mum uses commands such as “step up” or “step down” when she comes to kerbs or steps to help her navigate them. She uses a harness for walking as it helps to navigate her better. She would definitely benefit from continued leash training.

MARIANAS is crate trained and sleeps through the night without a peep and she snuggles with her stuffie and a blanket in it. She will also go in there during the day and have a nap or just chill out as it’s become her safe place. She is now housetrained and hasn’t had an accident in the home for quite sometime now. She does have frequent trips outside and goes on several walks a day so she knows to go to the bathroom outside. She hasn’t met a cat but with proper introductions, they should get along, especially if the cat is dog savvy.

MARIANAS has been blind since birth due to being born with Microphthalmia so she’s never had vision. She had a double eye enucleation when she was about 3.5 months old. As much as you want to feel sorry for her, there’s no reason to at all as she’s never had vision and she doesn’t know any different. We need her to be adopted into a family who doesn’t see her as a “special needs dog” but rather as just a “special dog” who’s treated like any other dog. She will require a very special family who will be committed to helping her live a full and wonderful life. She is not and does not see herself as disabled and she doesn’t know she’s blind.

We’ve had several people reach out to the rescue who’ve adopted a blind puppy and the one thing they’ve all said is “we didn’t treat them any different to any other dog we’ve owned.” You may require some rearranging in your house or your yard to make it a safe environment for her and to not be tempted to rearrange things other than when absolutely necessary. A

Just like any of our puppies, we do require you to get her obedience training so she’ll be the best girl she can be. She also shouldn’t need training that’s any different to what any other dog would receive but the trainer may suggest a few modifications.

If you’re that special person/family for our special MARIANAS then please put in an adoption application to meet her.
