KAMA hails from the northern community of Pikangikum and is part of our Heart Litter who came south to find their forever families. She’s had her first 2 sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. This litter was found dumped in a forest but were luckily spotted by a kind soul who took them in and looked after them until a rescue could be found. We have no information on either parent so the breed she is and the size she’ll grow to be is just a guess. This happy, friendly little girl is a perfect combination of snuggles and energy. She loves being around her people and can often be found laying on her back on someone’s lap just having a snooze.
KAMA is crate trained and will sleep quietly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. When she wakes up she lets you know that she wants out and right away. She’s really good at using the bathroom outside and has very few accidents in the home but if she does go, there’s newspaper by the door that she’ll go on. It’s still a work in progress though as she’s not at the stage to ask to go outside yet. She loves to go on walks and like all puppies, she excitedly runs ahead of you. She’s at a chewing stage right now as she’s teething so she has several chewy toys plus Nyla bones to keep her teeth busy. She eats her food very quickly so a slow feeder is recommended for her. She knows a few basic commands and will sit for her meals and take treats “gentle.” She’s a very smart girl and picks up very quickly on commands.
KAMA’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will also take her on adventures with them. She’s fostered with other puppies, cats and kittens and she gets on well with them all. She’s often found snuggled in her dog bed with another puppy or the resident cat. She does chase the kittens but it’s just to play with them and have a wrestle. She would definitely suit a home with a cat or another dog but would do equally as well as the only pet provided she wasn’t left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 6 and up and be loving, kind and gentle to animals. She does require a fenced-in yard to keep her safe and also so she can run around and burn off some of that puppy energy.
Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to take her for puppy obedience/training to help her become a well mannered and good girl. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. It will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for the surgery there. We do need it to still be performed by 6 months of age and we need a copy of the invoice and a picture of her (preferably in a cone or onsie after the surgery) in order to issue the reimbursement.
If KAMA sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
