ROLEX arrived in rescue from a Northern community.m and came south to find his family. He was a stray who was getting beat up on by the other stray dogs around him. Someone in the community reached out for help for him as they were literally afraid for his life. When he arrived in rescue we saw that part of his tail was missing and this is proof that he was indeed being attacked. He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and been given a clean bill of health by his vet. We have no knowledge of his parents but seeing as he looks like an Husky then we are we feel pretty safe in saying he is one. He’s full grown but could still do with putting on a few pounds. He’s a very loveable, gentle boy and his fosters says he’s such an easy foster as he’s so laid back.
ROLEX is house trained and crate trained, although it did take him sometime to get used to the crate and it would take him awhile to settle down in it. He sleeps well in his crate at night but chances are he will regress a bit and act up once he goes to his new home. We’re advising his adopter that he’s perfectly fine and just needs to learn that crate rules apply in his new home too. He does love to sleep on his dog bed (that will go with him) and that’s where he likes to nap during the day. He walks well on his leash but we are warning that he is a flight risk if not held onto tightly. Up until 3 weeks ago he never had a collar or leash on so leash walking is definitely a new concept for him. He enjoys playing with his dog toys and also having a bone to gnaw on. He’s fostered in a home with 2 female dogs and they get along really well so would suit a home with another one. He’s already well socialized and has met quite a few dogs on his walks and has gotten along well with every dog he’s met so far.
ROLEX would love to have an active family that likes to go on adventures, long walks and hikes. He’s in a foster home with a very dog savvy 5yr old and he’s very gentle around her so would definitely suit a home with children but they should be aged 6 and up and living and gentle to animals. He does require a fenced yard so he can play outside and run around safely.
We strongly recommend that his new owner meet with a trainer to do some fine tuning with him and work on his leash skills. It will help to form a bond with him and his new owner plus turn him into an all round great dog.
If ROLEX sounds like a dog that will fit into your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.
