TIKKA hails from the Northern community of North Spirit Lake and came south with her brother, Tandoori, to find her forever home. She’s received her first vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. The “Two Spicy” Litter were found all alone with no mum so her breeds and the size she’ll grow to be is just an educated guess based on what she looks like. She’s an active little lady who loves to run around and play with her brother and chew on her teething toys. She’s very outgoing and adventurous but also very snuggly and loves to sit in your lap.

TIKKA’s crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will nap in it during the day too. House training is still a work in progress and she will go on a pee pad in the home if she isn’t taken outside quickly enough. She’s just started to go on long walks and is a quick learner with leash walking and she’s now learning that she can go to the bathroom while outside too. Walking sometimes can be a bit slow as she loves to pick up sticks and chew on them along the way. She does eat her food very quickly so is currently using a slow feeder and it is recommended that she continue to use one until she slows down with her eating. She does have good manners and will sit for her meals and also take her treats “gentle.”

TIKKA’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks in the woods. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. She’ll do well in a home with other dogs as she’s fostered with several of them and she loves to socialize with them. Seeing as she’s never met a cat and if one is in her adoptive home we strongly recommend a slow and monitored introduction while she’s leashed for the first few times they meet up or interact. She should do well as an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving and gentle towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play.

Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.
If TIKKA sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
